A new day but yet the same old news. Kobe Bryant made headlines again. Its not so much that he made headlines, but why make headlines on the day the Boston Red Sox win the world series along with Alex Rodriguez. Can either of these two stand to not be the center of attention for just once. One day out of the year can someone else, who is an actual team player and doesn’t choke under the bright lights, have one measly day of praise.
A-Rod's post season struggles continue, while Kobe still has yet to get over the first round hunt in the west. It seems as the older these two athletes get, the more they forget their goals of winning a ring, and become only concerned about their paychecks. Are these two competing to see who can get the biggest payday? Ok A-Rod, at least Kobe won a ring to go along with a million dollar pay day. A-Rod maybe the best player in baseball, but is missing one vital characteristic, loyalty.
On a different note when will the back and forth between Phil and Kobe end. It started with Kobe running Phil out of LA, and Phil writing a book exposing Kobe as uncoachable in his novel. Only to return to the Lakers and praise his work ethic, determination, great athletic ability as well as how much of a team player he has become. Now Phil, once again, is denoting his work ethic and ability to put it all on the line during trade accusations. When will it end, when Kobe is out?
Last but not least the NBA tip off is right around the corner. All eyes are on the remolded Celtics, revamped Heat and King James. Will these teams live up to the hype? With a healthy D-Wade the heat are obvious favorites along with Detroit who is always a popular choice. Go Pistons! I expect the Celtics, who are led by Pierce, to contend and defy the nations most loved team, the Cleveland Cavilers. Will we witness great things this year wit LeBron getting over the hump? Keep an eye out for drastic change, Kobe may shake up the east being traded to the bulls for Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah among many others.
Not on topic, but worthy of the publicity. The New England Pats and Indianapolis Colts maybe the greatest match up in years, with the first and only meeting between two 7-0 teams. In a shoot out, the Patriots take over late with to many weapons with Ryan O’Callaghan, Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Donte Stallworth. Not to mention the coolest, calmest quarter back in the game, Tom Brady.
In closing, American football in London, on a soccer field, has grown to be slicker. Great way to get global by putting on a sloppy showing!

You have so much sports knowledge, and it shows in this post. But I wonder if you're diluting your entries just a bit by being too broad in one post? You highlight basketball, baseball, and a bit of football all in this small space. I think this blog can and should be multi-sport, but I'd suggest separate entries, or at least headers to break up the sections.
I do see that you were tying in the idea of hubris with A-Rod and Kobe. For those of us with less background, show us some more examples. Was Kobe really uncoachable? How?

You struck a nerve on this one! I am a Yankee fan and for the last two years have waited for this A-Rod guy to show up in the playoffs.
As a matter of fact, he batted 4-for-41 (.098 batting average) with no RBIs in his last 12 postseason games. Yeah, he has shown up to the big dance but without shoes. I guess A-Rod and his agent thought the only way to have a highlight in the World Series was to announce he was opting out of his contract during the seventh inning stretch of game 4, he finally had an impact on the post season.
Okay, enough about A-Rod! I also agree that is upsetting to watch pro athletes constantly complain about their pay. There are so many people who would play twice as hard for 1/3 of what these guys are getting paid because they have love for the game.

Your insight is great. I'm also a big sports fan. I'm more into basketball than anything so the summary of what's going on in the other sports was good.
I found what you wrote about these sports stars and their paychecks very interesting and about their loyalty. One of my favorite basketball players is David Robinson, not only because of his greatness on the court but in the community and his loyalty to his team, the San Antonio Spurs.
Kobe Bryant's was all over the sports news while I was watching my boys, the Spurs. I'm not a fan of his or the Lakers. What do you think about his trade?
